Women’s History Month is used as a time to celebrate the vital part that women have played in historic events and in building contemporary society. First celebrated across a week in California in 1978, widespread celebration of the month has since been adopted worldwide. It provides a united, global focus on women’s history.

Every year, the National Women’s History Alliance chooses a theme for the month. For 2022, the theme is ‘Women Providing Healing, Providing Hope’. The theme is ‘both a tribute to the ceaseless work of caregivers and frontline workers during this ongoing pandemic and a recognition of the thousands of ways that women of all cultures have provided both healing and hope throughout history’. Women’s History Month serves as an important reminder of the vital role that women have played in shaping today’s society, and provides a united platform to celebrate women’s often-overlooked contributions.

Women’s History Month at Delta Capita

Delta Capita is proud to once again be celebrating Women’s History Month. Led by our Diversity and Inclusion working group, we have launched our colleague nomination campaign to celebrate female trailblazers, role-models, and inspirational leaders across the organisation. We have given the opportunity for our workforce to nominate female colleagues anonymously so that we can celebrate them across out internal platforms and ensure they receive recognition from others across the company. To better educate our staff about women’s history, Delta Capita will also be sharing an article series about ‘women who changed the world’, as well as suggested reading, watching and listening. Finally, Delta Capita will be running two events: a series of fireside chats and a panel event featuring female leaders from both Delta Capita and JDX.

International Women’s Day – #BreakTheBias

As part of Woman’s History Month, International Women’s Day is celebrated on the 8th of March. This is a global celebration of the economic, political, and social achievements of women. The United National General Assembly cite it as a day to ‘recognize the fact that securing peace and social progress and the full enjoyment of human rights and fundamental freedoms require the active participation, equality and development of women; and to acknowledge the contribution of women to the strengthening of international peace and security.‘ This year, the International Woman’s Day theme is “#BreakTheBias”. ‘Whether deliberate or unconscious, bias makes it difficult for women to move ahead. Knowing that bias exists isn’t enough, action is needed to level the playing field.’

Delta Capita’s fireside chat and panel events will be taking place across the day on International Women’s Day. We look forward to sharing key takeaways and highlights from these events later in the month.

US Black History Month 2022 – The path to partner’ virtual roundtable

In spirit of Women’s History Month, Delta Capita hosted an event for US Black History Month - both of which are testaments of how women can create significant impact and encourage change. At our ‘path to partner’ virtual roundtable, we were joined by guest speaker, Oli Ikechi-D’Amico – Partner at Ernst & Young and Founder of Fully Bossed alongside Delta Capita’s Chief People Officer and Head of HR & Recruitment, Lindsay Jones who moderated the session.
