In recent times, ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) has emerged as an inescapable topic in the news, with stakeholders and regulatory authorities intensifying their scrutiny of a bank's sustainability credentials. The regulatory horizon continues to become more onerous and investors want to ensure sustainability strategies are robust enough to stand up to scrutiny. Nevertheless, against the backdrop of the current economic challenges, a pertinent question continues to be raised: "Is ESG still relevant?" With the cost of living crisis and other geopolitical uncertainties, should the UK's financial services industry prioritise financial returns?

To shed light on the risks and impacts affecting UK banks, Delta Capita hosted a webinar. This session explored the actions that firms should undertake to develop their strategies, distinguish themselves in the market, and address the fundamental question of whether ESG remains a vital consideration. To provide insights and guidance on these challenging questions, the webinar features speakers, including Delta Capita's Karan Kapoor (Head of Risk and Regulatory Consulting) and Diane Eshleman (Chief Sustainability Officer), alongside representatives from Cynergy Bank, a UK challenger bank serving SMEs, and Perigon Partners, a sustainability and strategy consulting firm.
